MAJOR BASIL JARRETT, MA MBA
Founder and Director
Major Basil Jarrett has over 20 years experience in Strategic Communications, Media Relations, Crisis Communications, Advertising and Public Relations, and is the architect of several National Emergency and Crisis Communication Plans as the former Civil Military Cooperation and Media Affairs Officer of the Jamaica Defence Force. Major Jarrett has provided strategic communications guidance and advice to Senior Military Personnel, Government Officials and Corporate Executives, and has delivered public affairs and communication lectures and training to audiences in the US, South America, UK, Europe and Africa. Major Jarrett holds an MA in Corporate Communications (Baruch College, City University New York), an MBA in Marketing (Long Island University) and a BA in Mass Communications (University of the West Indies, Mona). He also holds certificates in Information Operations and Public Affairs with the Canadian Military and Crisis and Emergency Management at Harvard University Extension School.
DR SHARLENE JARRETT, PhD
Director, Strategic Information and Research
Dr Sharlene Jarrett has over 20 years experience in Research, Bio-Statistics and Public Health and is the architect behind Artemis’ Research-based foundation. A seasoned researcher with a wealth of experience in Research Design, Data Collection and Data Analysis, Dr Jarrett has extensive experience in Monitoring and Evaluation and has conducted research across numerous sectors including Public Health, Education and Human Rights, in Jamaica and the US. Dr Jarrett holds a PhD in Psychology (University of Massachusetts) an MSc in Bio-Statistics (Colombia University) and BA in Psychology (Cornell University). She has served in a number of senior and executive management positions in Government and has done research-based work and M&E consultancies for local, regional and international clients such as the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Visual Communications Consultant
Mr. Shawn Carr is the visual communications and creative genius behind Artemis. Shawn brings over 25 years experience in visual communications, graphic design, and advertising, having worked with some of Jamaica’s top advertising agencies on some of the most impressive campaigns for corporate clients.
CHAUVAUGHN FRANCIS, BFA
New Media & Instructional Design Consultant
Mr. Chauvaughn Francis is the New Media and Instructional Design Consultant at Artemis. Chauvaughn has worked in video production, editing and design for over 15 years, crafting video commercials, social media content and video animation for corporate clients in the US and Jamaica.
MELVIN PENA
Communications Consultant
Mr Melvin Peña is a business consultant in communication and marketing, focused on innovation and design thinking. He is an expert in crisis communication, integrated communications strategies and business narratives. An experienced business and political writer and editor, he is a master of speechwriting and crafting corporate presentations. Melvin collaborates with various publications in Europe and Latin America and is a speaker and facilitator of workshops on creativity, creative writing, storytelling, strategic communication and marketing, corporate presentations and public speaking. He has worked for many of the most admired companies in the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as for prestigious international organisations and multinational companies. Since 2007 he has chaired his consulting firm, after holding various management positions in the journalistic and banking industries in the Dominican Republic.
YAHNEAKE STERLING RUSSELL, MA
Content Management Consultant
Mrs. Yahneake Sterling Russell has over 15 years of experience in media and communications, spanning the fields of journalism, public relations and social media management. She also has an extensive background in strategic communications, project management and brand and event management. Yahneake is a highly creative content manager, seasoned content strategist and community manager within social media, having directed the online presence of numerous clients across the most popular social media platforms. She also integrates and executes print and web content development as part of her mastery of the digital space. Yahneake holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication for Development from Malmö University (Sweden) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from Northern Caribbean University (Jamaica).

Mrs Celene Gordon is a Project Management Professional with over 15 years experience in Media and Communications, Event Planning and Project Management. Celene pulls together stakeholders, partners, audiences and sponsors in planning and executing successful events and projects that deliver client satisfaction.
NICOLE THOMAS, MCC
Social Media Consultant
Ms. Nicole Thomas is the Social Media Coordinator at Artemis. Nicole has created content for Social Media and Online Marketing for numerous corporate clients, while conducting Social Listening and Monitoring across the most popular platforms. Nicole manages our clients' Social Media presence ensuring that they stay active and engaged with their target audiences. She also serves as our media coordinator having worked with the RJR Communications group for over 6 years.
ANGELIQUE VIRTUE, BA
Corporate Communications Consultant
Ms. Angellique Virtue is a seasoned Corporate Communications Professional with vast experience planning and executing marketing communications campaigns for corporate, governmental and NGO clients. She specializes in Public Relations and Brand Equity Management and creating solutions for brands and individuals to reach their highest market potential. She has served as a government speechwriter, communications advisor and consultant and is skilled at maximizing public awareness for clients, products and services.
GILLIAN HAUGHTON, BA
Copy Editor
Mrs Gillian Haughton has over 35 years of experience in media and communications, having worked in journalism, advertising, public relations, government and corporate communications. A former Chief Executive Officer of the American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica and Director of Public Affairs and Communication at the Ministry of National Security, she is primarily responsible for writing, copy editing and proof reading at Artemis Consulting. She is 1st vice president of the Press Association of Jamaica. and has lectured Introduction to Media and Communications Courses at the International University of the Caribbean.
LATOYA WEST-BLACKWOOD
Publishing Consultant
Latoya West-Blackwood is a publishing consultant, speechwriter, copywriter, content strategist and nonprofit leader, living in Kingston, Jamaica, and partnering with teams across the world. Latoya was named Yale School of Management International Publishing Leader (Book Publishing, 2020) for her work in the areas of access to education for marginalised groups, research to support the production of high quality, culturally relevant content for early grade readers, and youth civic engagement through reading and literacy. She is a proud Executive Board Member of PublisHER, a global platform providing opportunities for women in publishing to collaborate with people across cultures, borders, and industries with the goal of making the world a better, more equitable place powered by stories and creativity.
JACQUELINE JACKSON
Event Consultant
Jacqueline Jackson is our Chief Event Consultant with over 20 years experience in executing entertainment and event planning projects for numerous local and overseas
clients including. Jackie has executed events for clients such as The International Reggae and World Music awards, The Chicago Music Awards, the International Festival of Life (Chicago), The Galleon Foundation (Fort Lauderdale), Cooyah International, The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, the National Environment and Planning Agency, The United States Embassy (Kingston), Ms Jamaica Universe and the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports. In 2021, Jackie was part of the production team for the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop 2021.
MAJOR SHELDON BRYAN, MSC
Cyber & Systems Solutions Consultant
Major Sheldon Bryan is a Cyber-Security and Systems Design expert with an extensive background in Military Information Security. Major Bryan is the architect of Jamaica’s national Cyber Security Strategy and a Cyber Operations Planner with the Jamaica Defence Force. He has worked with the Government and the private sector in creating effective strategies to detect and deter cyberattacks, and to design systems solutions to solve operational challenges.
JASON LAMPART, BSC
Graphic Design Consultant
Mr. Jason Lampart has over 10 years experience in graphic design, desktop publishing, social media content, photography, digital media management, website design and illustration. He has produced content for several corporate and governmental clients such as Sagicor Bank, the Jamaica Defence Force, the Office of the Children’s Advocate and the American Society for Industrial Security.
